Winter Events at McGehee

McGehee Branch Library has some exciting plans in motion for the upcoming months. For December we have an exciting adult craft night planned for the 7th. The theme for the night will be Ugly Sweaters and Candy Canes. The craft will consist of making a candy cane wreath, decorated to their hearts desire. Everyone will wear an ugly Christmas sweater, and the ugliest wins a small prize. Let the competition begin!  During the week of the 13th-17th, McGehee Branch has some exciting Christmas activities planned for the Boys and Girls club; for the younger children they will make a tree out of popsicle sticks and cupcake liners. The older children will make filled Christmas ornaments. They will get to take their art home to decorate for the festive season.

Starting out the New Year, January brings new beginnings and hopefully light snow. In case we don’t get real snow, we will make our own by making homemade puff-paint and let the children of the Boys and Girls club paint individual snow people during their visit(s).  For the month of January, we will utilize the month to celebrate and showcase Dr. Martin Luther King, but doing a small display and bring any and all bools celebrating him to the forefront.

* All activities for children include reading books themed to go with the activity.
