Who doesn’t enjoy getting good old-fashioned mail? It’s especially exciting for kids to receive a card that has their name on it. The Star City Branch Library would like to surprise kids who live in Lincoln County with some holiday mail sent to their mailbox. Even more exciting will be the included message itself: It’s an invitation to visit the library and pick up a free surprise book at the circulation desk that Santa left to boost literacy this season!
For the first time, the library will offer this free book surprise program to hand out books to young book lovers before Christmas. Children up to age 10 can participate. After parents provide the home mailing address, the library will send a customized card to the child with an invitation to visit the library and pick up a surprise book that is gift wrapped and has the child’s name on it. Library staff hopes to put a smile on kids’ faces and give back to its community while exposing kids to books and boosting literacy.
Everybody can sign their child up. Only one nomination per child is possible. Surprise books will have to be picked up on December 20-21. For more info and to sign up for a free surprise book, please contact the library at 870-628-4711, or stop by.
